Legal
Privacy Policy
We keep this simple. This policy explains what information we collect on teetrenddigital.com, why we collect it, who processes it, and what your rights are. We are a Canadian business and we follow PIPEDA, Canada's federal privacy law, and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
01Who we are
Teetrend Digital is the operating name of TEETREND Consulting, a sole proprietorship registered in Alberta, Canada. We provide digital, AI, and cybersecurity services to small businesses. For anything privacy-related, contact us at admin@teetrenddigital.com.
02What we collect and why
Jeff AI chat widget
When you use the chat on our website, we collect the messages you type. Here is exactly what happens to them:
- Your messages are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), our website database, under an anonymous session ID. You do not need an account, and we do not know who you are unless you tell us in the chat.
- Your messages are sent to Google's Gemini AI service to generate a response. Google processes this data under its own cloud terms.
Please do not type sensitive information into the chat, such as passwords, financial details, or health information. Jeff is for service questions and booking help.
Contact link
Our contact link on the site is a mailto link. Clicking it opens your own email app, addressed to us. We do not receive anything until you send that email yourself, and your message goes straight to our Google Workspace inbox, not through any third-party form service.
Booking calendar
Bookings run on Google Calendar appointment scheduling, reached through the "Book Free Audit" button. When you book, Google collects your first name, last name, email address, business name or website, and any notes you add about the purpose of the call, and shares these with us so we can hold the appointment. A Google Meet video link is generated and added to the booking automatically.
If you email us directly, we keep the correspondence so we can respond and keep a record of the relationship.
Basic technical data
Our hosting provider (Google Firebase Hosting) logs standard technical information such as IP addresses and request data to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use this to identify visitors.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit, where they come from, and where they drop off. It sets cookies and collects information like pages viewed, approximate location based on your IP address, and your device and browser type. We use it for measurement only. Advertising features (Google Signals) are turned off, and analytics data is never used to show you ads. The data is processed by Google.
03What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
- We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to ad networks. Our analytics is configured for measurement only, with advertising features turned off.
- We do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it, and you can opt out any time.
- We do not use your chat messages to train AI models ourselves. Third-party processing by Google is governed by Google's cloud terms.
04Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job:
- Google (Firebase Hosting, Firestore, Gemini API, Google Analytics, Google Calendar, Google Workspace email). Data may be processed in Google data centres, including our primary region in Canada (Montreal) and other regions Google operates.
Our contact link is a direct mailto link, so no third-party form service ever sees your message. Google may store data outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, the data is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
05How long we keep it
Chat conversations: retained for up to 12 months, then deleted. We review chats to improve Jeff's answers and our services.
Contact emails and booking correspondence: retained for up to 24 months after our last contact, unless you become a client, in which case records are kept for the business relationship and legal requirements.
Booking details: kept per Google Calendar's retention and our appointment records.
Analytics data: retained in Google Analytics for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
06How we protect it
Security is our trade. Our founder holds a CISSP certification and we apply the same discipline to our own site:
- Database access rules restrict chat data so sessions can only read their own messages.
- AI API keys are stored server-side in Google Cloud Secret Manager, never in the browser.
- We use multi-factor authentication on all administrative accounts.
- We limit what the chat can accept and monitor usage for abuse.
No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal information in a way that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
08Your rights
Under PIPEDA and PIPA you can:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it.
- Withdraw consent and ask us to delete your information, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Complain to us first, and to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta if we do not resolve it.
To exercise any of these, email admin@teetrenddigital.com. We respond within 30 days.
09Children
Our services are for businesses. The site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Meaningful changes will be flagged clearly on the site.
